Hello,
I ordered the Eggbot kit and installed it, but keep getting the message “Failed to Connect to Eggbot :(” from Inkscape.
My setup:
MacBook Pro running MacOS Mojave 10.14.3
Arduino Leonardo with JJRobots Brain Shield
Inkscape 0.91
Eggbot Control Inkscape Extension Release 2.7.1
EBB Firmware (not sure how I can find it)I installed Arduino IDE 1.8.9 and uploaded the sphere-o-bot code contained in (Ejjduino_Arduino), which is verified and compiles find and seems to be uploaded ok, because the motors and servo jitter and move slightly.
But when I try to control the Eggbot from the Inkscape Eggbot Control extension I receive this error “Failed to Connect Eggbot:(”
Would you please help? Many thanks in advance.
April 6, 2019 at 5:42 am #27214MajdiParticipantHello again
I have additional update.
I checked the link between the Arduino IDE application and my Arduino Leonardo board, and there is a connection. I can move the spinning motor when I send the command “SM 2000,0,-200”.
So the problem seems to be from the version of with the Inkscape application and/or the Eggbot Control extension.
I therefore tried installing Inkscape version 0.48.5-2X11 and Eggbot Control extension release 2.4.0, and now I have a different error message when I try to connect to my Eggbot from Inkscape Eggbot extension, as follows:
python: VERSIONER_PYTHON_VERSION environment variable error (ignored)
The fantastic lxml wrapper for libxml2 is required by inkex.py and therefore this extension. Please download and install the latest version from http://cheeseshop.python.org/pypi/lxml/, or install it through your package manager by a command like: sudo apt-get install python-lxmlThe problem is clearly finding the right working combination between Inkscape and Eggbot Control extension for the Mac OS 10.14 or higher.
Any idea out there will be much appreciated.

Thank you for your quick reply.
Would you at least advise what is the working version combination for the Inkscape and Eggbot Control on your kits ?
There is no information or documentation at all that can be easily found and the one-page vague instructions that came with jjRobots Kit pointed to your forum for additional information.
