For reasons multiple and mostly ridiculous, I’m trying to drive my eggbot with a macos 10.10 laptop. I have inkscape running using version 0.91pre2+osxmenu r12791 from here <https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b7tyrnugif2ywqj/AABywo_QspDc4AmTb-uCCW8Wa/latest >. The eggbot extension 2.3.1 pkg refuses to install complaining that I “need to have Inkscape 0.47 or higher installed…”

If I dive into the pkg, I can install eggbot2013081123.pkg no problem but the other pkg, inkscape10.pkg (which I’m assuming is the patches?), won’t install and the eggbot extensions do not appear in inkscape.

Any ideas about how I might do this or should I just stop acting like an idiot and trying to run this stuff on a beta os?

    Thanks

You are not alone. I’ve actually been using 10.10 with (a slightly older version of) osxmenu since June. Installation is different, but (for the most part) everything works well.

The installer is not designed to work with the osxmenu version of Inkscape, which has a slightly different internal structure. (We will update the installer to support it when it becomes an official release.)  So, you’ll need to do a manual install.  Download the ZIP file from here:

Unzip the folder, and place all of the contents in:
    Applications/Inkscape.app/Contents/Resources/share/inkscape/extensions/
Restart Inkscape, and you should be good to go.  You may get some extra “error” dialogs when trying to print, but I think that it’s only our error reporting that has an error– all of the machine control seems to be working well.

Thanks so much. Seems to work a charm.
